Celsius
A metric unit of temperature.
Definition: One degree is 1/273.16 of the difference between the triple point of water (at exactly 0.01 °C) and absolute zero.
The triple point of water is the temperature at which water can exist simultaneously in the gaseous, liquid, and solid states. Absolute zero is the temperature at which all molecular motion discontinues.
The Celsius temperature scale is named for the Swedish astronomer and physicist Anders Celsius (1701-1744), who used a similar scale.

Center Frequency
The center frequency is the median frequency of the transmitted pulse. This pulse contains a range of frequencies in pulsed ultrasound systems.

Central Processing Unit
(CPU) The CPU is the brain of the ultrasound machine, the main processor in the computer.
The CPU executes complex computer programs to send electrical currents to the transducer probe to emit sound waves, to receive the electrical pulses from the probes that were created from the returning echoes. The CPU does the calculations, data processing and forms the image on the display. The CPU also stores the processed data and/or image on disk.disk.

Cerebrovascular Ultrasonography
Cerebrovascular ultrasonography is the best screening tool for the detection of carotid artery stenosis. Transcranial sonography is used in the evaluation of patients with suspected cerebrovascular disease, but a common problem is the attenuation of the ultrasound signal by the skull.
Contrast enhanced ultrasound play a particularly important role in the visualization of the intracranial vessels, and thus improves the accuracy of transcranial Doppler and increases the potential of this technique. The use of microbubbles is helpful for classification of stenosis and for plaque evaluation in patients with poor initial examination. Ultrasound contrast agents avoid misdiagnosing a subtotal stenosis, which is a very important clinical issue.
