Directional Color Power Doppler
(DCPD) Directional color power Doppler combines power (amplitude) of Doppler signal with directional (phase) information to encode direction and variations in blood flow. DCPD is used in analysis of blood flow to assess blood vessel or vascular function.

Directional Indicators
Color assignments can be switched on any ultrasound system and are used as directional indicators. The colors of red and blue indicates flow direction in color Doppler.
Red is encoded to represent flows toward the transducer.
Blue pixel encoding is used to depict flows away from the transducer.

Directivity Index
(DI) The directivity index is the value in dB of ten times the common logarithm of the directivity factor. The directivity factor is the ratio of the sound intensity produced by a test transducer on a specific axis to that of a point source that is emitting the same acoustic power. Since the specific axis is usually one of maximum radiation, the directivity index is usually greater than zero.

See also dB/dt.

Disk Storage
The processed data and/or images can be stored on disk. The disks can be a hard disk (HDD), floppy disk (FDD), compact disc (CD) or digital video discs (DVD). Typically, the ultrasound scans are stored and archived with the patient's medical records.

Display
The ultrasound display is usually a computer monitor that shows the processed data from the scanned area. Displays can be black-and-white or color, small or large depending upon the model and price of the ultrasound machine.
